A torture session that turns me into jelly
The time has come. I finally, finally started at the new gym. I’m sorry it took a while. I just finished a very fast paced winter intensive that didn’t leave me with much free time. Joining the new gym was the scariest, most uncomfortable, out-of-my-comfort-zone thing I’ve done in a WHILE. But the best thing about this whole new gym journey is that 2 of my best friends - Noah and Kelly - are doing it with me. It’s certainly much more fun with them around and it’s so much more motivating.
So first, a rundown of how things are going. Last week we had an introductory session with our trainer and he gave us a workout plan and taught us the correct posture to complete the exercises effectively and safely. The whole workout program is designed to ease us into weights and strength training, and I’m definitely excited to see how it turns out. We will be doing the recommended workout 3 days a week for about 5 weeks before we check back in with the trainer. I’m going to include the full plan here just to help anyone else who might be interested in strength training or just curious about what exactly I’m doing.

I tried the full workout for the first time today and it was EXHAUSTING! I’m starting out with the smallest weights for the squats and deadlift but it was still very tough. My arms and legs were jelly by the end of it! However this is just the start and I’ve accepted that it will be the hardest. Working out together with Noah and Kelly is a great help because it’s somehow less tiring when you’re in it together :) So make sure to drag your friends along on your fitness journey! I’m excited to see all the changes to come and I hope it’ll get easier soon :P

It was scary, and a very new experience that left me exhausted but it’s the first step in a new direction. I’m writing about my experience because I thought it would be a new view point on anyone who wants to start strength training and gym in general. Please look forward to all the improvements and discoveries this journey will bring!
I hope you enjoyed reading this!
Lots of love,
Nethmi
