Stepping into the world of Chinese novels is definitely a weird feeling. I grew up around Chinese and Korean drama and music, courtesy of my mother, but it wasn't until 3 years ago that I discovered Chinese novels and it wasn't until last year that I fell deep into Chinese webnovels.
I found this book through its drama adaptation which most avid Chinese drama fans will know, Love O2O, and I became obsessed with the drama for its simplicity and lighthearted vibe (I admit, the handsome male lead might have played a part in my obsession, too). And when I mean obsessed, I mean it. I watched the show live on TV, actually going to my grandmother's house for it since I can't get Chinese satellite on my TV, and watching it again the next day with English subtitles. When the drama ended, I re-watched it and watched the movie too!

Obsessed Metta decided to check out the book from which this incredible drama was adapted from and it made me appreciate the drama even more. The story barely changed, I got to understand the characters and their thought processes better, and the author wrote cute epilogues featuring the main couple and their kids!
I've been rambling too long without even telling you the details of the plot. Oops! So, this girl called Bei Weiwei is the 6th best player in an MMORPG and just broke up with her in-game husband. The main lead, Xiao Nai, the best player in the entire game, saw her at the internet cafe and fell in love with the way her "fingers flew across the keyboard". He decides to propose to her in-game and their love story begins there. Swoon~
It's super sweet and lighthearted and gives you butterflies. Like many, you'll fall in love with this Chinese novel. There's plenty of content surrounding the main couple: the book, the drama, the movie, the comic and also other books in the same universe with equally cute couples. Bei Weiwei and Xiao Nai will be like cement in your heart, once it sets it's pretty concrete ;)
Fair warning: Chinese novels are very different than the usual English novels, from the language (of course), interactions (largely influenced by the culture) and it might be tough to get used to. But there's a lot of humour and the relationship dynamics are always heartwarming.
TL;DR, Read it! Here: http://bookbychapters.com/tag/just-one-smile-is-very-alluring/
Enjoy!
